With the help of On Time Technology Solutions here in Borger, the Borger Economic Development Corporation recently gave its online website a new face lift with a design that is attractive and easy to use for people searching for information about the Borger area through the Borger EDC website.
When connecting to the Borger EDC website (www.borgeredc.com), web surfers and/or potential businesses looking to establish operations in the area, will be able to find a good source of information about what Borger and the Hutchinson County area has to offer.
Some of what the Borger EDC provides on its website includes information about the community's workforce from unemployment rates to a detailed breakdown of employment figures of the top 15 employers, information about various tax rates, education opportunities, historical background about the community, basic community information, as well what the EDC sees as advantages for living and doing business here in Borger.
There are also direct links to several community resources including the City of Borger, Frank Phillips College, Lake Meredith, Borger Chamber of Commerce, Golden Plains Community Hospital, and Hutchinson County.
For parties looking to start a business or needing help to expand their current one, the website provides connections to various business resources such as the Small Business Administration, Panhandle Work Source, The Entrepreneurial Network at WTAMU, and detailed information on the EDC's own programs for those potentially wanting to seek backing by the EDC.
In seeking backing by the Borger EDC, the website provides information on what type of projects and businesses are eligible for funds, the loan application process, and other rules and regulations required by the EDC.
The website also has list of commercial properties available that the EDC can assist in providing information on how to rent or buy, as well as helping in setting up times to view.
There is also plenty of information on the Borger EDC itself including contact information, current Board of Directors, By Laws, Strategic Plan, and Incorporation Information, as well as agendas and the minutes from the Borger EDC Board of Directors meeting held each month that can be accessed through the website through PDF document format.

EDC investing in local business Golden Plains Community Hospital launches new website

by Brooke Huff- Associate Editor
Golden Plains Community Hospital has recently updated the contents on its website, and made it more interesting, innovative and fun.
Created by On Time Technology in Borger, the new website, www.goldenplains.org, will be more interactive, allowing people to explore the site with more ease. On the new site, community members can find upcoming events on the Events Calendar, which will keep the public updated on what's going on GPCH. This includes special programs such as Prepared Childbirth classes and Diabetes Self-Management classes. The public can also check to see what the weekly menu is for the cafeteria, which is open to the public for breakfast from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., as well as check into new employment opportunities. The career link allows people to apply online for different jobs, or submit a general application to the Human Resources Department.

One of the site's new features is the "Our 365" online shop. This shop allows the public to visit the baby nursery, and order photos or buy gifts for the babies. Also, if someone has a loved one or friend in the hospital at GPCH, but are unable to get to the GPCH Auxiliary Gift Shop to buy a gift, a feature on the web site now allows Gift Shop purchases online. Gifts can be ordered online, and it will be hand-delivered to the patient with a smile by one of the hospital volunteers. A list of services, as well as patient information, can be obtained online through the new web site.
Although not a new feature to the site, the Jerry C. Waggoner Medical Foundation feature has been improved to allow for easier use. This link allows visitors to purchase a bronze leaf or rock in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Each purchased bronze plaque will contain the name of the person being remembered or honored, and will be placed on the placard, in memory of Jerry C. Waggoner, which rests on the hospital lobby wall.
Other features new to the site include an online medical dictionary and encyclopedia, allowing site visitors an opportunity to look-up various medical terms and conditions, a health topics tab, a drugs supplement and herbal information tab, and the latest information about the Swine Flu.
Also, the public can get caught up on what's going on in the health care industry by clicking on the "GPCH News Online" link, or find out the latest at GPCH itself by clicking on the "Newsletter" link. Here, site visitors can even see a graphic design video of what the new hospital will look like.
With easier to use links, lots of photographs and videos, and interactive services, www.goldenplains.org has something for everyone.
Borger
EDC investing in local business

by Rusty Berry - Reporter
This
morning the Borger Economic Development Corporation held an
appreciation breakfast at Dake’s Restaurant for
those in the community that have shown their support for the
BEDC throughout
the last couple of years, while allowing several of the businesses
that have been helped by the BEDC to speak about the current status
of their companies. Dan Redd, CEO of the BEDC, opened by giving a positive update
on Sglass, a fiberglass manufacturing company that currently is
specializing in the manufacturing ambulance tops.
According to discussions Redd had with Madison Scott of Sglass,
the company has received orders for the ambulance tops from across
the country, averaging a shipment of about 24 tops a week.
Redd continued by giving an update on F&M Enterprises by talking
about their “Easy Drain” product making its appearance
in the JC Whitney catalog, along with being well received recently
at one of the biggest air shows in the country.
Production of “Easy Drain” is expected
to get underway in the next couple of weeks.
Amando Lujan of Tejas Land Management was introduced and gave some
background information on what services his company plans to provide.
Only in operation for a couple of months, Tejas Land Management
preps areas for control burns and assist communities in clearing
areas to help prevent damages to homes and businesses by possible
wildfires.
Currently the company employees three people with plans to hopefully
expand to around to 10 by the end of the year.
Ben Conner of Conner Industries was introduced and talked about
how the BEDC assisted by giving $150,000 in grant money to help
in their recent $900,000 expansion as Conner Industries has evolved
into doing fabricating and industrial construction in recent years.
Conner spoke how the economy has not affected its business, with
the company being able to expand its fabricating capabilities.
The expansion also allowed Conner to expand their facilities available
to their employees such as shower and locker room facilities as
well as an expanded break room that is able to accommodate for
all 60-70 employees for safety and company meetings. Conner also
said the expansion is also helping in recruiting qualified employees
to a first class facility.
Frank Phillips College President Dr. Herb Swender spoke about
how thankful he was to the BEDC in their assistance in the expansion
of the welding facility at the college as well as helping in the
construction of the Access and Innovation Center.
Alex Rodriguez, of On Time Technology Solutions,
talked about how over the past several years how their business
has had to move
into bigger office space, due to expansion, with their current
location being located at 1206 S. Cedar. Rodriguez also talked
about the company’s future plans of opening a call center
in another location that potentially will employee around 20 people.
On Time Technology Solutions provides outsourced IT services to
small companies that do not employee their own IT personnel.
Patrick Nonhof provided a good presentation on the success his
company Providence Consulting has enjoyed, including expansion
into Austin and Philadelphia, Pa.
Providence Consulting specializes in developing software to help
out oil and chemical companies to stay in compliant with OSHA standards.
Employing 34 people, the company has been able to work with companies
such as Valero, British Petroleum, and Conoco-Phillips.
Even though the economy has negatively effected many big and small
businesses around the country, the businesses that have received
help from the BEDC have shown that they can overcome some of the
current economy obstacles by providing quality products right here
in Borger, as well as to areas outside the city.
City of Borger website receives
new look
1/12/2009
by Michelle Berry - Editor
The web site for the City of Borger has officially received a
new look.
Alex Rodriguez, president and co-owner of On Time Technology Solutions,
a local managed IT services company, said his company was approached
by Eddie Edwards, assistant city manager for the City of Borger,
and recommended by council member Robert Vinyard to redesign the
city’s web site to give it a more up-to-date look. “We
wanted it to be appealing and easier for anyone to navigate and
get the information they need,” Rodriguez said. “We
met with Mr. Edwards and he gave us examples of what he envisioned
the site to look like.” He said the company’s web designer came back, started brainstorming
on ideas, and finally came up with a look that would meet with
the city’s expectations.
The city already had a web site at http://www.ci.borger.tx.us,
but the company felt the city needed something that would be informative
and easier to navigate. The new site is full of information about
the city and city offices.
As part of a maintenance agreement, On Time Technology
Solutions will maintain the website for the City of Borger from
now on. Rodriguez
said the site reflects the city’s commitment to its citizens.
“Having a web site shows that the City of Borger is committed
to bringing up-to-date information to its citizens,” he said. “You
can reach more of your local community through a web site than
through any other media. A web site is a great addition to all
your marketing materials, from business cards to television commercials.”
Rodriguez said a web site can be a very inexpensive
form of getting out information to the citizens of Borger, and
can offer an audience
much more information about the city than in any other form of
advertising. He also said it can be changed at a moment’s
notice.
“
Just think about how much work it takes to make one small change
in a regular advertising campaign,” he said. “There’s
the time to create the new campaign, produce it and get it out
to the consumer. With a web site, you can make small or large changes
very quickly.”
Rodriguez said On Time Technology Solutions has been in business
for over four years now, and has been blessed to make it this far.
“We love our town, and we want to give back to our community!” he
said.
Those interested in a web site or redesign can call the office
at 274-9912, and On Time employees can consult with them on coming
up with an online presence for their business. The company handles
it all, from the design and implementation to the web hosting and
e-mail.
Those interested in finding out what new services
On Time Technology Solutions will be offering in the new year
can check out the company’s
newly redesigned site at www.ontimecomputing.com.
